Getting started
I just installed the app. What's the first step?
Open the app, read and accept the Terms of Use and Disclaimer, then complete onboarding: your profile, your goal and pace, and your personalized summary.
Do I need an account?
GetToWeight is built so your core data can stay on your device. No further sign-in or account creation is required.
Can I use metric and imperial units?
If your app includes unit settings, choose your preferred units in Settings. If not yet available, use the units shown in the app for now.
How do I change my goal or profile?
Use Settings (or your revise-plan flow) to update profile details, measurements, activity, or goals. Your estimates refresh based on the latest information. You can always delete and reset your full data and restart a new program. Note that old data is not saved.
Understanding your numbers
What is BMR?
Basal Metabolic Rate is an estimate of calories your body uses at rest. GetToWeight uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation.
What is TDEE?
Total Daily Energy Expenditure is your estimated daily burn, combining BMR with an activity multiplier.
What is my daily calorie target?
It is the app's estimated daily intake target to move toward your goal at your chosen weekly rate. This is a guide, not a prescription.
Why did my target or goal date change?
When weight, activity, measurements, or pace changes, the app recalculates your plan. Planned dates are flexible milestones, not guarantees.
What is BMI?
BMI is a simple height-weight ratio used as a general snapshot. It does not describe full health or body composition.
Body fat and body shape
How is body fat percentage estimated?
When needed measurements are provided, the app uses the U.S. Navy circumference method. This is an estimate for trends, not diagnosis.
What do colored ranges mean?
Where displayed, ranges may follow ACE-style categories. They are gender-specific general guidelines, not medical advice.
What is body shape here?
The app can describe body-shape context from waist-to-hip ratio categories. It is for personal tracking over time, not health labeling.
Data, privacy, and backups
Where is my data stored?
Your GetToWeight data is stored locally on your device ONLY.
What if I delete the app?
Deleting the app may remove local data. If export or backup exists in your app, use it regularly and store backups safely.
Does GetToWeight sell my health data?
NO!, there is no cloud copy of your health entries operated by GetToWeight. All your information is on your mobile phone.
Troubleshooting
My numbers look wrong
Check units, activity level, and measurements first. Small entry differences can change estimates significantly. Contact support with your app version if needed.
The chart or date looks unexpected
Confirm each log date and your time zone. If the issue continues, send support a short description and screenshots.
